About
I'm Devin Fitzpatrick. I run an Enterprise Project Management Office and have spent the last year designing, building, and operating a three-tier AI architecture that supports the function. This site holds the operating model behind that work, the case studies that come out of it, and the field notes I write while I'm doing it.
The frame is practitioner, not vendor. I am skeptical of the AI-for-PMO category as it currently exists, and I think the people running PMOs over the next decade are going to need to build their own architecture — not buy a packaged one. Most of what I write here is the reasoning behind that view and the patterns I have seen working.
What I write about: AI architecture in operational functions, the practitioner-vs-vendor question, the future of project management as a discipline, the political and operational reality of building anything ambitious inside an enterprise, and the field-level observations that come out of running a real PMO at real scale.
What I do not write about: my employer specifically, individual people on my team, anything that would compromise the trust placed in me. The work I describe here is my operating model — the patterns and architectures I have built — not the proprietary specifics of any one company's implementation.
